About Limes-Therme Bad Gögging
Limes-Therme Bad Gögging, Germany is a paid Thermalbad at Am Brunnenforum 1 in Bad Gögging, Lower Bavaria, approximately 30 km from Ingolstadt and 40 km from Regensburg. Bad Gögging has been a state-recognised spa since 1919 and is the only location in Bavaria with all three state-approved natural remedies: sulphur water, mineral-thermal water, and natural peat. The Therme opened in 1979 following the discovery of a spring at 650 metres in 1976. Its Roman theming reflects genuine heritage: Emperor Trajan built a thermal bath here for the garrison at fort Abusina around 110 AD.
The facility covers 1,300 square metres of water landscape with six indoor and four outdoor pools at 28 to 36 degrees Celsius. Signature features include sulphur water pools, natural moor baths from the spa's own 15-hectare peat bog delivered via a 900-metre pipeline, a moor treading pool, a Höhenluft-Lounge simulating mountain air at 1,500 metres altitude, a Dead Sea salt grotto, and hop treatments using locally grown Hallertau hops. The Roman sauna world is in a reconstructed Limes watchtower with saunas named Tepidarium at 25 degrees, Caldarium at 50 degrees, Laconicum at 90 degrees, and Arena sauna. The Terra Vitalis wellness area and restaurant complete the facility.

Safety & Etiquette
Limes-Therme Bad Gögging Safety Tips
Limes-Therme Bad Gögging is a managed facility with continuously monitored water and peat quality under German spa law. Each of the three natural remedies has specific contraindications. Sulphur water can irritate sensitive skin and airways in enclosed pools; visitors with respiratory conditions or sulphur sensitivity should check with the facility before using sulphur pools. Moor baths involve immersion in heated peat at 42 degrees and place continuous cardiovascular demand on the body; visitors with cardiovascular conditions, high blood pressure, cancerous tumours, acute infections, or pregnancy should seek medical advice before booking a moor treatment.
The mineral-thermal pools at 28 to 36 degrees are well-tolerated by most visitors, but prolonged soaking can cause overheating. Guests should take regular breaks, drink water throughout, and exit immediately if they feel faint or unwell. The cold pool is intended for brief circulatory contrast phases and should be entered gradually by visitors not accustomed to cold immersion. Metal jewellery should be removed before entering sulphur pools to prevent corrosion.
The sauna world has a minimum age of 16 and standard Central European sauna etiquette applies: nudity is the norm and towels must be placed on benches. Guests must shower before entering any pool. The Höhenluft-Lounge uses negative ion air treatment; guests with respiratory conditions under active treatment should check contraindications with the facility or their physician before using it. Lockers are available in the changing areas. Outside food is not permitted on site.
