The last 5 miles are unpaved but accessible to standard vehicles in dry conditions.
From Lowman, drive northeast on Highway 21 for approximately 19 miles to the Grandjean Road junction and turn right. From Stanley, drive west on Highway 21 for approximately 37 miles and turn left. From Boise, the total drive takes approximately 3 hours via Highway 21 through Idaho City and Lowman. The drive is scenic through ponderosa pine forests and mountain passes.
