Kentucky has no naturally occurring hot springs above 90°F. A small number of warm mineral springs surface in the state, most notably Blue Lick Springs and Grayson Springs, where 19th-century resort operators built spa towns around cool artesian mineral water (typically 55-65°F) rather than geothermal water. None operate as public soaking facilities today. Travelers searching for hot springs in Kentucky, hot springs near Louisville, or hot springs near Lexington will find no in-state hot springs. The closest genuine hot springs are Hot Springs, North Carolina (approximately 5.5 hours by car), Berkeley Springs, West Virginia (approximately 7 hours), and Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas (approximately 9 hours).
